A personal reflection on starting again, building with community, and making space for imperfect ideas.
Baybayen.ph started in 2017, launched its official website in 2020, and went on a hiatus in 2022–2023.
Before relaunching in 2025, I said to myself:
I have to begin again, and this time, it should be with community.
Simply because I believe in the power of people coming together.
I Know What It Feels Like to Build Alone
I know how it feels to be alone with an idea.
I know how it feels to journey on your own, trying to figure things out as you go.
Sometimes, you have the idea. You have the tools. You can search for answers. You can learn how to do almost anything online.
But there are things that tools cannot give you.
Sometimes, you simply need people.
People who will listen. People who will ask questions. People who will share what they know. People who can say, “I’ve been there, too.”
And That’s Where SuriHabi Came In
SuriHabi became a space where fresh ideas—or even just a simple, imperfect thought—can be discussed, heard, and simply exist.
It doesn’t have to be a perfect business idea.
It doesn’t have to be a finished plan.
Sometimes, it can just be something you’ve been thinking about and finally want to say out loud.
And I think there is value in having a space for that.
We Have So Many Tools, But We Still Need People
We are living in a time where AI and social media give us so many ways to create, learn, and build.
These tools were created to connect us and make things easier.
But let’s be real: sometimes, they also push us to work alone.
You can create the strategy.
You can write the content.
You can design the website.
You can ask AI for ideas.
You can figure things out on your own.
And yes, it can be done.
But I’m learning that it can be more beautiful when we still have each other.
What SuriHabi Is Teaching Me
SuriHabi is teaching me that community doesn’t have to be perfect.
People are imperfect. Ideas are imperfect. Sometimes, we don’t even know exactly what we’re trying to build yet.
And that’s okay.
What matters is that there is a space where we can bring those imperfect ideas, share them with others, and allow them to grow.
For me, SuriHabi is about embracing the community, embracing the imperfection of people, and seeing how much stronger an idea becomes once it is built together.
Maybe that’s what I’m really learning from starting again with Baybayen:
We can build alone. But we don’t always have to.

A Note from Baybayen
SuriHabi started as an idea for a workshop, but I’m realizing that it is becoming something more personal for me.
It is a small expression of what I want Baybayen to become: a place where people can bring their ideas, meet others, learn from one another, and build something together.
Because sometimes, you don’t need another tool.
You just need a table where you can sit with people and begin.
